About Us.

The Kontagent Team.

Albert Lai, CEO/Founder

Albert sold his first internet company, the MyDesktop Network while in his teens to JupiterMedia (JUPM) for 7 digits in cash. Most recently he was the founder/CEO of BubbleShare, a photo-sharing company sold to Kaboose (KAB) in 2007. He is now hard at work on Kontagent, his 5th internet startup.

In his spare time, Albert blogs about disruptive simplicity and other random thoughts at http://simplyalbert.blogspot.com

Jeffrey Tseng, CTO/Founder

Jeff has been involved in a number of early stage startups, and has also led a number of large academic research projects in the field of wireless sensor networks.

His main interest lies in business strategy and technology. Jeff's technology interests and research has covered large-scale data processing and analytics, scalable architectures, wireless sensor networks, robotics, image compression, and system design.

Prior to his entrepreneurial ventures, he was a Ph.D. Electrical Engineering candidate at UCLA.

Fredric Newberg, VP of Engineering

Prior to joining Kontagent he was the Lead Systems Architect at Sensoria, a venture-backed company focused on wireless networking and sensing, which he joined as one of the founding engineers. At Sensoria, Fredric directed teams of hardware and software engineers in the design of embedded networked systems and led business development efforts focused on government customers. His engineering experience ranges from working on networked systems for detection of underground facilities to wireless mesh networks to advanced automotive telematics systems. Fredric has a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from UCLA, where his research was focused on wireless sensor networks.

If he had not joined Kontagent, he had planned to apply for the position of tour manager for Metallica.

Chris Kirkwood-Watts, Lead Software Guy

Chris is scary. Most recently Chris was VP of Engineering at a online media startup. Prior to that, Chris had also been a founding engineer at Aevena, where he designed software for multi-sensor networks and real time devices with Jeff Tseng. He was also a security software engineer at Iomedex, where he designed encryption algorithms, and has held senior engineering positions at Cray where he designed distributed computing platforms and file systems, designed multi-processor software at NEC Research, and has software engineering stints at Raytheon and IBM. Chris holds a Ph.D. in computer science from Tulane University as a Regents Fellow and a JD from University of Michigan Law School (for kicks).

He speaks 5 languages and fakes Norwegian perfectly.
