Understanding Kontagent Application Instances

The “application” you create in Kontagent is simply a data collection bucket within the Kontagent system. This data collection bucket, or “application instance”, is used to collect and store the data sent to Kontagent from the real-world application your customers see and interact with. As such, you can create as many application instances for each real-world application as you like, but we recommend you create two: one QA application instance, and one Production application instance for each real-world application.

Creating separate application instances for QA and Production will allow you to maintain data integrity, and details regarding the setup of QA/Production application instances will be covered in the Setting Up For Testing, QA, and Production section.

For the sake of brevity, we will henceforth refer to a Kontagent “application instance” simply as “application”, unless otherwise stated.
